Rise of the Phoenix - First Clay Plaque Test

This handmade plaque was made with air dry clay.  I used one of my hand cut lino plates and pressed this into the clay to get an impression of the image.  Then I cut out the plaque shape and added the hole for hanging.  After it having dried for a whole day and night, I painted it with acrylic paint in numerous dry brush layers.  I'm considering designing a range of different original plaques for my etsy store but I'm still not quite sure yet.

The Phoenix is a Greek Mythological creature but it also appears in many other cultures. In legend, instead of dying, it bursts into flames. A new Phoenix is then reborn from the ashes. The Phoenix is a symbol of the sun, reincarnation, time, resurrection and consecration.

The original lino cut was designed for my little brother who is called Phoenix.
