This is a symbolic story of Mary Tudor and how she tragical was never able to have a child.  The pomegranate was her mother’ s symbol which she also adopted.  The pomegranate is also symbolic for fertility.  In this story the pomegranate represents Mary Tudor’s numerous miscarriages.
